Questions

Good to know

  1. Is my photo uploaded?

No. Kleurstaal draws the photo small on a canvas in your own browser and counts the colours there. Nothing goes to a server.

  2. Why don’t I get exactly the colour of my logo?

Each colour found is the average of a group of pixels that look alike. Edges, shadows and compression mix in. Choose one colour more, or use the colour code from your house style.

  3. What is the difference between the two methods?

Grouping (k-means) looks for colours the way the eye sees them and usually gives the nicest palette. Median cut keeps splitting the colours in two and holds on to small, bright accents better.

How it works

Palette from an image in three steps

  1. Choose a photo

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF or SVG, up to 25 MB. Kleurstaal makes a small copy of it in your browser.

  2. Choose how many colours

From 3 to 10. Kleurstaal groups the pixels and shows each colour with its share of the photo.

  3. Copy

Click a swatch to copy its code, or take the whole palette as HEX, CSS variables, Tailwind or JSON.
